Kit Soden
Kit Soden has been a staple in the Vancouver, BC, music scene since the late 1990s. He has appeared in shows and festivals across Canada, fronting numerous touring acts such as Kaejema, The Frog Maphia, and Kit & Tim. After over a decade of performing, Kit's prolific songwriting has led him to complete this first collection of solo recordings. This new album blends his unique style of acoustic rhythms with unmistakable vocals in what can best be described as a prose-like storytelling of journeys of the mind, body and spirit. The album's second track, Highway 101, relates to all of us. For some it paints a picture of traveling the fabled west coast highway from California to Canada. For others it invokes memories of that road trip with no destination, when our only limitations were pavement and gas money. Track 11, Silver Glasses, brings out Kit's sultry side, weaving a soft melody with a classic tale of a fleeting sight of that special someone who has an unmistakable aura of stardom to come. Track 9, The Mist, has a hook that won't let go. It's catchy chorus grounds Kit's powerful vocals while painting a vivid picture of his experience watching the mist roll in over downtown San Francisco from high above in Buena Vista Park. Each of Kit's songs share a part of his history with the audience. But they also allow listeners to reconnect with their own memories of experiences that we all often share. Kit's songs are stories that we can all relate to, one's that paint colourful pictures of the richness of life and the landscapes that surround us. Combined with his formidable guitar skills, this unique collection of songwriting gems is sure to captivate his audiences across the globe in 2008.
